My name is Scott Wright as you would have probably have gathered
by now. I was born in 1979 in a town called Shoreham (South of the UK).
I am by profession, a webdesigner, and now moving and expanding my expertise
to other realms of media, Digital Video, Photography, and general Design.
Computer in my Brain?
I started using computers from a very early age, about 6, when it was
the time of Bruce lee on the spectrum. Then I slowly moved on up through
Amiga, ST, into a 286 PC.
Of course there was no stopping my addiction for computers now. I progressed
through school, gaining GCSE's (11 Passes) and A-Levels, then decided
to do a degree in Accounting. After carrying out 1 year of the accountancy
course, I decided that I really didnt want to progress this is as a career,
and thought I had best change.
BRIEF OUTLINE:
1979 - I was born in Shoreham, UK.
1991 to 1997 - Secondary Education @ Kings Manor.
1998 to 2001 - University Studies in Computing.
2001 - Career Starts in Webdesign.
I now see my self as a Digital Media Artist
not just a webdesigner, and am looking to expand my skills throughout
other areas of design / programming.
Computing Course / University
Studies.
I then moved on to do an HND in Computing, at the University of Brighton.
This was a 2 year course, during which I designed my very first web
sites, which indeed were quite poor, as anyone's first pages are.
Then after a couple of these original designs, I began experimenting
more with my designs, and eventually produced my first commercial
work "Lesley's
Dolls".
STUDENTS @ UNI
Next, came the inspiration of Flash !. My
friend wanted my to design him a site, as he was starting to promote a
night club. (DJ-ing is another of my hobbies). This then lead me into
the world of flash tutorials and hours of playing with the program. remembering
how frustrating it was at first.
My HND was a great help and an insight into computing, but the majority
of my work now, is all self taught using tutorials off the web, and simply
experimenting with new ideas.
More detail on this course can be seen on my CV
page HERE.
The Quest for Employment.
After completing my Universtiy course, I started my adventure of job seeking.
This inspired me to do version 1 of Scott's portfolio, which had a list
of my 4/5 we sites I had created. Then, luckily, I received a phone call
within 15 mins of sending out e-mail's. A few interviews later I found
my self employed in what I like doing best, designing web sites, and doing
graphical work in Photoshop.
