ThamesPM After branding ThamesPM I went on to compile a full flash on ...
Primarily I am a web designer by profession, I am slowly learning new
technologies such as Digital Video and Photography, but primarily I will
always be a web designer.
How do I design sites ?
Well there have been a number of methods that I use, firstly I started
off the same way that nearly all designers start, with MS Frontpage
:). I used this simply learn the background of designing a site,
and the HTML code that produced it.
I soon realised how much unnecessary code it used and produced,
so I learnt how to hard code pages with Notepad. Now I use a combination
of pure code, and Dreamweaver, which produces professional results.
My designs now follow a regular pattern ....
Firstly I open my standard 800x600 template in to Photoshop,
and create the entire design in Photoshop. I always design for
800x600 to cater for this resolution. However, nearly all my sites
re-size to any resolution, which can be a really big advantage
and looks good. (
Next I slice the image up into frames or tables and import for
final adjustments in Dreamweaver.
Once the overall layout gives what I am after, I can then apply style
sheets (CSS) to the main content page, which sets fonts and hyperlink
colours, table colours scrolls bars etc.
Finally after getting the look just right, I open the site in Netscape
Navigator, and perform several Netscape fixes that usually occur with
browser compatabilities between IE and Netscape. It is now when I have
to rearrange everything so it conforms to Netscape standards as well
as I.E.
FEATURED SITE
I have just launched the 3rd site in the Pentagon Series,"Pentagon
Vauxhall", which is one of the most comprehensive Vauxhall
Dealership site to date so far. With searchable used car sections,
updateable page content and flash / html content.
This is one of my most favourite Vauxhall Sites to date. I recommend
a viewing!
