A lot of people ask me what software I use to create and edit Digital
Video, so I decided to give a brief explanation of the applications
I find useful.
Initial Stage : CAPTURING
The first stage with any of the digital video
movies that I make, involves capturing the footage from the
camera. For this I use an IEEE firewire connection,capturing
on the application.
Next I tidy up each clip individually, adding
slow motion effects to various clips if needed, and adjust levels
such as colour balance and hue / saturation.
The next stage in the creation, is overlaying
video and graphics, while applying effects on various layers
of visuals. There is only really one primary application that
gives me what I need, which is Adobe After Effects.
The final step in the process, is to render
out the movie for its designated purpose. For example, if the
target media is DVD, I will render out the MPEG DVD Compliant
streams, and produce a menu etc. if need be. If the target media
is Web, I will need to create compressed clips that stream ready
for the Internet.
